This French Rhone grape is another obscure varietal that can really shine on its own. It is a cross of Petite Bouschet and Grenache. It’s known as a blending grape in French wines and, historically, in field blends with Zinfandel in this country. One of the few red grapes that actually has red juice, it displays bright fruit on the palate and a deep crimson color in the glass. Pair with roasted meats and assorted game.
